The Los Angeles County Art Institute cordially invites teachers and serious
students to a full six weeks summer program in Art. A staff of seven distinguished
practicing artists and designers will present a stimulating offering in various media.
Thoroughness in techniques for teachers and professional art students will be balanced
with philosophic consideration of the place of Art and Art Education in our society.
We at the Los Angeles County Art Institute believe that the purpose of Art
Education is to prepare creative minds to use techniques creatively for constructive ends.
This requires a fine balance between three distinct discipIines- Technical -
Aesthetic -and Philosophic. A stimulating balance between serious work in the
beautiful new studios of the Institute and informal lectures and discussions combined
with outdoor painting and beach picnics will make this Summer of 1954 a memorable
one.
