BEQUESTS AND DONATIONS While the Los Angeles County Art Institute is maintained and operated out of public funds, these do not and cannot cover all functions and activities vital to the full realization of the Institute's program. There may be individuals or organizations willing to consider a bequest or donation. For this reason, the following three areas for assistance are suggested: Scholarship Fund Library Fund Special Activities Fund In regard to scholarships, there are alv/ays a few more highly qualified, prospective students, without the necessary funds, than scholarships available. As to the Library, a good beginning has been made toward the building-up of a comprehensive art and design library, which is an indispensable element in the Institute's program, and which, on the professional level and under one roof, does not exist at present in the region. As to special activities, whether of purely educational, or, again, of a social nature, they play a significant role, at the right moment, in a program dedicated to guiding students to maturity as human beings and to competence in their individual fields. Bequests and gifts may be made to the Los Angeles County Art Institute Associates, a body incorporated to receive and hold funds and property for the Institute, and independent of the County. Such gifts are deductible for income tax purposes. 40 |
