industrial production. Cooperation between the Institute and local ceramics industries will provide a unique liaison, and insure close collaboration between the senior student and leading industrial laboratories, both as to concrete problems and to future opportunities of professional service. GRAPHICS III-306 (FIELD OF CONCENTRATION) — 5 UNITS Disciplined training in graphic techniques, with full opportunities for personal expression and creative power. Study in two media of the concept of graphic organization will form the basis of the course. A consideration of the aesthetic importance of print making and its application in many fields, coupled with new uses for graphic arts will orient the field as an art and as a potentially greater medium for both individual expression and in commercial use. GRAPHICS IV-406 — 12 UNITS Based upon the essential techniques acquired in Graphics III. Course covers a full year devoted to a major project agreed upon in conference between the student and the head of graphic arts. Studio space will be assigned, and students will be responsible for all necessary study material and compositional solutions preparatory to the final organization of their work. All projects will be oriented to insure practical application in the field of graphics to opportunities in the professional world. The final project will be completed and presented to the faculty for the purpose of determining the student's ability in reference to graduation. This major field should serve as superior and direct training in the commercial arts and advertising and avoid the dangerous narrow specialization without foundation current in art education. 31 |
