PETER VOULKOS HEAD OF CERAMICS Born in Bozeman, Montana, 1924. Educated Montana State College: B. S. in Applied Art, 1950; California College of Arts and Crafts, M. F. A., 1952, majoring in Ceramics. Teaching: Pottery Instructor and Designer, Archie Bray Foundation, Helena, Montana. Has received 10 major awards. Has participated in many invitational and juried shows, has had three one-man shows and is represented in eight museums here and abroad. LEONARD EDMONDSON HEAD OF DESIGN Born in California, 1916. Received B. A. University of California at Berkeley. M.F.A. University of California at Berkeley, 1940 and 1942, respectively. After service in U.S. Army Military Intelligence, 1942-46, taught Pasadena City College, Instructor of Drawing and Design. Recipient of more than 20 major awards. Participated in major exhibits across nation. Has had four one-man shows. Represented in over 12 principal public collections and numerous private collections. RENZOFENCI HEAD QF SCULPTURE Born in Florence, Italy, 1914. Educated Royal Institute of Art, 1926-34, received M.A. (1932), completed two years of post-graduate work (1932-34). Came to the U.S. 1938. Sculpture studio New York and Madison, Wisconsin (1940-41). Instructor, Art Department, Washington State University (1942-43). Studio in Los Angeles 1943-46, Santa Barbara, 1946 to date. Lecturer University of California, Santa Barbara College 1947, instructor 1952-54. Work has been exhibited extensively from 1932 to date in Italy and U.S., receiving several major awards. Widely represented in museum and private collections. ARTHUR AMES DESIGN AND PAINTING Studied at California School of Fine Arts, San Francisco. Has received many major awards in important national exhibits. Has participated in four traveling exhibits sponsored by United States State Department. Has designed murals in fresco, mosaic, ceramics, and enamel in many buildings and homes in California. KARL BIRKMEYER, Ph. D LECTURER Born in Hamburg, Germany, 1918. Educated at University of Berlin (Ph. D.). Curator, Central Art Collecting Point, Monuments, Fine Arts & Archives Section, American Military Government for Bavaria; curator for Exhibit of Berlin Masterpieces touring U.S. Assistant Professor, Stanford University, 1950-53. Assistant Professor, University of California, Los Angeles, since 1953. MAXIMILLIAN EDEL, M.D. LECTURER Born in Vienna, Austria, 1906. Graduate Medical School, U. of Vienna (M.D.) Worked in sculpture simultaneously. Three years residency City Hospital, Vienna. Studied sculpture at Academy Ranson, Paris (1936-39). Came to U.S., spent four years as professional sculptor. Received Calif, license to practice medicine December, 1945. Taught anatomy at LACAI1948-49; at Jepson Art Institute 1950. 22 |
