or fields of their choice. Exploring, experimenting, hopefully discovering new expressive possibilities, they must finally complete a creative thesis which effectively synthesizes, in a work or works of art, what they have learned. Of all the means of expression the student must learn, most basic and important to him is drawing. No matter what materials he uses or by what processes he finally fashions them into works of art, the visual artist first draws. Drawing is his most used and useful tool. Otis believes its students must learn to respect drawing not only as a tool, but also as a medium of expression in itself, as important and as potent as any other. In keeping with this belief Otis, alone among art schools, offers a major in drawing. The drawings herein reproduced are fine examples of the work of Otis students. We're proud of them.
