motifs for landscape study. The class will meet at a previously determined place each day. There will be two criticisms in the field each week. Criticism Tuesday and Friday. Illustration The student in Illustration will follow the regular course in Drawing and Painting and will be coached specially in composition for book and magazine work; also quick sketching for action, etc. Criticism Tuesday and Friday. Commercial Design Instructor, Harold W. Miles Pupil of Charles Cummings and ]. Francis Smith. Instructor in University of Iowa—Hollywood High School. Five years experience in practical commercial design. Member California Art Club, Hollywood Art Association. This class is open to beginners and advanced pupils. The student is required to devote one- half of his day to free hand drawing and the other half in applying his drawing and color knowledge to the methods called for by magazine and newspaper advertising, poster work, lettering, etc. Criticism Monday and Thursday. Decorative Design Instructor, Norman Edwards Both beginning and advanced students will be received in this class. One-half day will be devoted to free hand drawing, the other half to the study of color theory and principles of design, with some practical applications to textiles, book cover and card designs and others. Criticism Monday and Thursday. Sculpture Instructor, Julia Bracken Wendt Pupil of Art Institute, Chicago. Member National Arts Club, New York; Chicago Society of Artists; Chicago Municipal Art League; California Art Club. The Sculpture Class will be open for both beginning and advanced students. Free hand drawing will be required for one-half day, the other half day devoted to modelling in clay—for beginning students from the Antique and for advanced students from the Life model. Criticism Tuesday and Friday. Saturday Afternoon Landscape Sketching Class Instructor, Edouard A. Vysekal This class is designed to fill the need of a great many art students whose only opportunity to study landscape occurs on Saturday afternoons. The sketching ground will be selected beforehand each week. The teacher will accompany the class. Evening Classes Instructor, John H. Rich Pupil of Art Students' League and Boston Art Museum. Two years' European study. Member of Samagundi Club and California Art Club. The Evening Classes will continue as during the regular session; namely, Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, 7:30 to 9:30. Instruction will be given in Elementary and Advanced Drawing and Painting, Life and Costumed Models, Illustration, etc. Library—The Otis Art Institute maintains the largest art school library in the Southwest. Its advantages are open to all students during the school session. |
