Description
CROSS-CUTS
(Seven
Los
Angeles
Artists)
took
a
diverse
group
of
LA
artists
whose
artwork
,
taken
together
,
evoked
an
eccentric
landscape
of
ephemeral
beauty
and
fugitive
time
. The
idea
of the
categorization
of a
group
exhibition
itself
was
taken
into
consideration
. In this
case
, the
filmic
act
of
cross-cutting
suggested
sudden
disjunctures
or
obvious
oppositions
between
each
part
of the
installation
but
retained
the
sense
of a
cohesive
visual
adventure
. The
work
of
each
artist
provided
both
a
resting
place
for
contemplation
and a
jumping
point
for the
experience
of the
other
work
in the
exhibition
.
